Graduate Student
Marisa is an M.S. student under the advisement of Dr. Sara Place and a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Animal Science at CSU. Born and raised in suburban Georgia, Marisa’s passion for food animal agriculture blossomed from her time living and working at a Dude Ranch in Tennessee. Graduating from Berry College in 2024, Marisa’s undergraduate research exposure in veterinary microbiology and the field of One Health have guided her to graduate studies at AgNext. With hopes and aspirations to gain exposure to the global food animal production sector, Marisa is passionate about bridging the gaps between producers and governmental leaders within beef management systems. Marisa’s current masters project focuses on improving the management of feedlot cattle by streamlining how greenhouse gas emissions are measured and identifying diet formulations that reduce cattle contributions. Outside of the farm or office, you can find her exploring trails with her four-legged companion Gus, finding a new outdoor music venue, or cooking her favorite meals for friends.
