Post-Doctoral Scientist
Chloe Stenkamp-Strahm is a post-doctoral scientist working with the Lombard research group. She is a veterinarian that did her graduate training in CVMBS’s combined DVM/PhD program, earning a PhD in Clinical Sciences with a focus in Epidemiology in 2018. After obtaining her graduate degrees she practiced mixed animal clinical medicine while teaching DVM and MPH students at Utah State University in Logan, UT. She is now back at CSU pursuing studies related to cattle infectious disease. Her broad focus is to better understand the epidemiology and etiology of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAI) in dairy cows, given the unprecedented outbreak that began in March 2024. HPAI has spread from cattle operations to other mammals, human dairy workers, and poultry operations, necessitating a one-health approach to these investigations.
