AgNext Partners with the Livestock Marketing Information Center to Share Weekly Industry Insights

AgNext is partnering with the Livestock Marketing Information Center (LMIC) to help share timely insights about trends shaping the livestock industry. Through this collaboration, AgNext will share LMIC’s “In the Cattle Markets” newsletter with our audience on social media in a new “Market Monday” series. This weekly publication highlights key trends, data, and economic analysis affecting the cattle industry and broader agricultural sector.

The newsletter includes commentary from agricultural economists along with market data on topics such as cattle prices, feed costs, and supply conditions. By sharing these insights, AgNext aims to make credible, data-driven market information more accessible to producers, researchers, students, and industry partners.

Understanding market conditions is an important component of building resilient and sustainable animal agriculture systems. Economic trends influence production decisions, technology adoption, and the long-term viability of livestock operations. By sharing LMIC’s market analysis alongside AgNext research, our goal is to provide a broader perspective on the factors shaping the future of livestock production.

About the Livestock Marketing Information Center

The Livestock Marketing Information Center (LMIC) has provided economic analysis and market projections for the livestock industry since 1955. LMIC supports economic education, applied research, and policy evaluation by producing forecasts, projections, and market outlook materials.

LMIC operates through a collaborative partnership between state land-grant universities, USDA agencies, industry organizations, and LMIC staff. This structure helps reduce duplication of effort while improving the quality and availability of livestock market information for producers and other decision-makers.

Today, 29 state Extension services participate in LMIC alongside multiple USDA agencies and industry partners. LMIC staff maintain comprehensive databases on livestock price, production, consumption, and trade data, which support a variety of outputs including weekly newsletters, market updates, data visualizations, and research materials used by producers, researchers, and industry stakeholders.

Through this partnership, AgNext looks forward to helping share these insights with our community while continuing to advance science-based solutions for sustainable animal agriculture. Stay tuned for weekly “Market Monday” posts coming soon on our social media channels. Additionally, interested individuals can subscribe to the “In the Cattle Markets” newsletter directly here.
