In June 2025, AgNext hosted its third annual Research Summit that brought together researchers, industry professionals, producers, and students to explore the latest innovations in sustainable animal agriculture. Over 150 attendees joined us throughout the week to engage in research presentations, expert panels, and networking opportunities.
A Week of Insightful Programming
The AgNext Research Summit 2025 began with pre-conference registration and tours at the Climate-Smart Research Facility. AgNext graduate students led visitors through the facility, highlighting the cutting-edge technologies and ongoing research shaping the future of sustainable livestock systems.
The core of the event took place over two days at the Translational Medicine Institute (TMI), where AgNext faculty and staff presented research findings and panel discussions explored critical topics across animal agriculture and sustainability. The variety of sessions encouraged conversation and collaboration providing attendees a chance to build connections within the field.
A new addition to this year’s Research Summit was the Student Poster Competition which highlighted student research related to sustainability in agriculture. More than 20 graduate and undergraduate students from across the country presented their work. Posters were evaluated by a group of judges based on subject matter, clarity of presentation, and relevance to sustainability. Cash prizes were awarded in three categories: Ph.D., master’s, and undergraduate.
Student Poster Competition Winners:
-
Ph.D.: Ashley Schilling-Hazlett
-
Master’s: Marisa Werner
-
Undergraduate: Erin Burke
