Earlier this month, Colorado State University hosted the Graduate Student Showcase. Each year, this event brings together over 300 graduate students from diverse disciplines present their research in an environment that promotes entrepreneurship and creativity. At this year’s event, one of AgNext’s doctoral students, Afrin Jannat, received a prestigious $500 Top Scholar scholarship for her outstanding poster presentation at this year’s Showcase. This achievement not only reflects Afrin’s dedication to her research, but also demonstrates the value of the Graduate Student Showcase as a platform for recognizing and celebrating academic excellence at Colorado State University.
The Graduate Student Showcase is not just a forum for presenting research; it is a dynamic space where graduate students can connect with peers, engage with faculty members, and gain valuable experience in presenting. At the event, each graduate student presents an academic poster to other graduate students, faculty, members of the community, and judges. It is evident by the award Afrin received that her poster presentation stood out among the diverse array of research projects. Afrin’s work, studying air quality in milking parlors and barns at dairies under the advisement of Dr. Diego Manriquez, captured the attention of both fellow students and esteemed faculty members.
Not only was this event an excellent opportunity for AgNext research to be recognized and awarded, but also an excellent opportunity for Afrin to network with other members of the campus community. Other AgNext graduate students have previously presented at the Graduate Student Showcase. This demonstrates the rigor of both the graduate students at AgNext and their dedication to their research projects and also highlights the commitment to mentorship by the AgNext faculty in guiding these students in their academic journey.
